We are proud to share that SHODESH SHIPPING & LOGISTIC COMPANY have been nominated as an exclusive logistics agent in Bangladesh to handle and deliver 7 (Seven) batches of world’s highest sensitive cargo – “Nuclear Fuel-Uranium” to Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Project Site (the country’s first nuclear power plant).

Bangladesh's ambition of producing nuclear electricity is becoming closer to reality, as the country is receiving nuclear fuel for the first unit of nuclear power plant. Shodesh Shipping & Logistic Company have been nominated as an exclusive logistics agent in Bangladesh to handle and deliver 7 (Seven) batches of this world’s highest sensitive cargo – “Nuclear Fuel-Uranium” to Rooppur NPP project Site. In this regard, the company has received 3-months training under Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC), Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Police, Department of Fire Service and Civil Defense and Joint-Stock Company Atomstroyexport- the main contractor of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP).

On September 28, 2023, the first consignment of nuclear fuel (Uranium) for the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project arrived in Bangladesh by a special flight from Russia. The next day, on September 29, fuel was taken to the project area site under special security arrangement following international guidelines in special vehicles escorted by vehicles of the armed forces, fire brigade, health service personnel, and other necessary security arrangements.



Bangladesh has made progress toward entering the elite group of nuclear power producers with the arrival of new uranium fuel at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (Rooppur NPP) site. By the end of the month October 2023, six more batches are due to reach in phases which will be handled by Shodesh Shipping & Logistic Company as well.

On 5 October, the certificate of safe handing over of fuel was officially given by the Russian fuel supplier to RNPP. With that Rooppur plant will achieve the status of a nuclear installation. Bangladesh became the 33rd member of the exclusive nuclear power elite club. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, and Director General of IAEA Rafael Mariano Grossi attended virtually connected to the ceremony.
