The Port of Carrara in the northwest of Italy has received a shipment comprising heavy-lifting equipment from crane manufacturer Terex and it subsidiary Genie.

The consignment included a diesel-electric Terex Gottwald G HMK 7608 7 mobile harbor crane and a Terex Liftace 5-31 reachstacker along with two Genie Z45J RT articulated boom lifts.

“The productivity and reliability of machines from Terex Port Services has impressed us, we have now opted for other technology from Terex. Our handling volumes are constantly rising, and we are sure that the new reachstacker and boom lifts are the appropriate choice to face this challenge,” said Paolo Dello Iacono, managing director of Carrara port.

The new reachstacker will increase capacity for project cargo at the site, specifically outbound heavy industrial machinery and stone. Weighing 45 ton, the reachstacker offers a maximum road speed of 25 kilometers per hour and delivers low fuel consumption.

Terex manufactures cranes for a wide range of heavy-lift cargoes with a particular focus on construction, infrastructure, quarrying, recycling, surface mining, shipping, transportation, refining, utility and maintenance industries. The firm employs 15,900 employees globally and operates in more than 170 countries. Genie is a wholly owned subsidiary of Terex.
