Project cargo growth at St Petersburg

The Sea Port of Saint Petersburg (SP SPb) handled 3.79 million tonnes of cargo in the first half of 2016 - an 11 percent decrease compared with the same period last year.

Of that figure, the port handled around 30,000 tonnes of project, heavy lift and oversize cargoes - an 8.4 percent year-on-year increase.

Ro-ro cargo volumes also increased by 15.4 percent year-on-year to 223,000 tonnes. Overall, general cargo volumes at SP SPb decreased by 7 percent compared with the same period of 2015.

SP SPb recorded a 14.4 percent year-on-year decrease in export cargo volumes to 3.13 million tonnes, while import cargo flow increased by 5.8 percent to 660,000 tonnes.
