Breakbulk specialist Mammoet is to provide heavy-lifting services for the expansion of an integrated petrochemical complex in Johore, Malaysia. The project includes the transportation and installation of new reactor vessels weighing up to 650 tonnes.

The reactor vessels measure more than 100 meters in height and installation will involve an specialized engineering solution to overcome bottlenecks caused by low pipe rack around the construction area in the existing petrochemical complex.

Mammoet will utilize one of its fleet of PTC 35 ring cranes with long reach and small footprint to lift the vessels over the pipe rack from a nearby road. The PTC 35 crane features lifting capacity of up to 1,600 tonnes.

“Mammoet was able to provide our client with a unique solution that would optimize the handling of heavy vessels. Less movements on site results in reduced risks, reduced costs and a faster completion, reducing the overall time-to-market for our client” said Roel Wesel, solutions manager at Mammoet APAC.

Headquartered in Schiedam, in the north of Holland, Mammoet  provides a range of services from transportation and logistics planning to heavy-lift and crane rental.
