Offshore transport firm Heerema Marine Contractors has transported a topside module from its fabrication yard in Zwijndrecht for Statoil’s Oseberg Vestflanken 2 project.

The giant topside weighs 900 tonnes and measure 25 meters long, 23 meters wide and 20 meters high. It is accompanied by a  jacket weighing 4,400 tonnes and measuring 138 meters long.

“Our design of an unmanned wellhead platform with no facilities, helicopter deck or lifeboats represents a new solution with great possibilities. It meets the challenges of lower investment costs and higher efficiency requirements,” said Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven, CEO of HFG.

The modules were fabricated by sister company Heerema Fabrication Group’s under an engineering, procurement and construction contract. They will be installed by HMC’s SSCV Hermod in the Oseberg area of the North Sea, about 130 kilometers north-west of Bergen.
