Organised by Biz Events Management, the two-day international conference on maritime, offshore and Oil & gas, SHIPTEK 2018, concluded successfully at Dusit Thani Hotel, Dubai on 1st – 2nd May 2018. The conference was inaugurated by Mr. Hamad Al Maghrabi, MS Operations General Manager,Abu Dhabi Marine Services – SAFEEN.

Moving steadily into its successful 9th year, ShipTek is a journey of exploration, revelation and awe, which continues to mark its legacy as a benchmark event in the maritime industry. A perfect amalgamation of innovative ideas and infotainment, this two day conference promises to present before you a much bigger experience. The event offered cutting edge presentations which contributed to a step-change in the Marine Engineering, Offshore technology, Engineering & Communication and Naval Architecture sectors and enthralled the audience with some of the most inspiring and insightful talks.

Besides the much-appreciated conference, the event also witnessed a dazzling award ceremony where industry veterans who have been instrumental in proposing creative solutions were honored for their accomplishments. The Chief Guest for the Award Ceremony was Dr. Rashid Alleem – Chairman, Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA).

The prestigious Lifetime achievement award for creative contributions of outstanding significance to the maritime industry in the field of maritime Services, Entrepreneurship, and Academics was bestowed upon Capt. Gamal Fekry, MD, MC Ship Management (DMCC), Mr. Mohammed Hussain Al Shaali, Chairman Gulf Craft and Capt. Saleem Alavi, President , Sea Commerce respectively.

Other awards which were also conferred during the event. Tanker operator of the Year Award was bestowed upon KOTC; Best Innovative Project award was presented to P&O Marinas; Best Maritime Organization was presented to FONASBA; Gulf Navigation was presented with Best Employer of the Year award; Best Shipping Agency award was provided to Archipelago; Best Classification Society was presented to American Bureau of Shipping; Albwardy DAMEN was declared Best New Building Yard; Best Repair Yard of the Year was presented to Oman Drydocks; Lamprell was declared Best Offshore Construction Yard, MARCAP was declared Best Service Provider- Marine; Best Innovative Project/Concept was presented to ADNOC Logistics & Services; Gulf Navigation Holding was presented with Best Service Provider- Offshore award; Mr. Saeed Al Malik, ISSA President, Vice Chairman – Dubai Maritime Advisory Council and Chairman of Middle East Fuji , was bestowed with Personality of the Year award; Excellence in Professional Services-Marine award was presented to Capt. Michael Magee, Group Harbour Master, RAK Ports; Oman Insurance Company was presented with Best Insurance Provider award; Al Mansoori Specialized Engineering was bestowed with Best CSR & Happiness Initiative award.
