Strategic heavy-lift specialist ALE has delivered an Argentine SAOCOM 1A satellite as part of the Space-X rocket project.

The breakbulk consignment involved transport of the 12-tonne satellite from its fabrication yard to Bariloche airport. It was then loaded aboard an Antonov plane and transferred ready to be launched at Vandenberg air field.

“Transport operations required a complete shut-down of the 10 kilometer route, as well as civilian, Police and military escorts … the lifting operations were planned carefully in accordance with the client’s standards and ALE lifted the satellite onto the skidding system, where it was skidded into the airplane,” said Raul Anriquez, ALE’s project manager.

Headquartered in Staffordshire in the UK, ALE operates more than 30 regional offices around the world focused on complex heavy-lift projects in the oil and gas, civil, nuclear, offshore, renewables, petrochemical, ports, marine, minerals and metals and mining sectors.
