SINOTRANS LOGISTICS PAKISTAN (PVT) LTD has recently handled transportation of a Heat Exchanger to Pakistan Refinery Ltd.

The transportation was done by Sinotrans Logistics Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd to Consignee's premises (Pakistan Refinery Ltd.) after completing Custom Clearance. The trailer was parked inside the port during this time and the port area was cordon off by traffic cones to avoid any danger to cargo.


Due to the extra-long vehicle transportation commenced at 02:00 am with a complete in-house team, who were trained to handle over dimension cargoes, with escort vehicles in the front and rear of the trailer.
 

When the trailer reached the job site, once again the area was cordon off awaiting for the opening of the refinery. Discharging was handled by Pakistan Refinery Ltd.’s own crane.

Oxbo Mega Transport Solutions has coordinated the delivery and installation of ten engines and ten generators for a power plant project in southwest USA.

Weighing 158,400 lbs (71.8 tonnes), the generators measured 4.57 m x 3.96 m x 4.34 m; the engines weighed 642,840 lbs (291.6 tonnes) and measured 13.1 m x 4.1 m x 6.1 m.

Once the generators and 30 other components arrived at the project site by truck, Oxbo used platform trailers to move all of the items to the assembly area, where the units were moved into place using a gantry crane.

Using a gantry crane, Oxbo unloaded the engines from railcars and onto Goldhofer platform trailers for transport into a storage area.

In a few months, Oxbo will begin moving the engines on to their designated pads using a jack and slide system.

Meanwhile, Oxbo has transported two 355,110-lbs (161.1-tonne) transformers using a Goldhofer THP/CA dual lane transporter.

Each transformer measured 10.11 m x 3.71 m x 4.67 m. The entire configuration measured 118.8 m long and weighed 680.4 tonnes.

Upon arrival at the substation, crews used a jack and slide system to lower and set each transformer onto its pad.

Turkish port operator Yilport Holding has expanded its terminal portfolio with a 55 percent share in Guatemala’s largest Pacific Ocean port, Puerto Quetzal.

Under the agreement, which was signed between the port authority and Yilport, the company took over the multi-purpose quay operations in the terminal as of October 18, 2018.

Puerto Quetzal, able to accommodate vessels up to Panamax size, is the 21st port operated by Yilport Holding.

The terminal in which general cargo, container, liquid cargo, and Ro-Ro handled serves as a multipurpose terminal with its 820m long main berth and 11 meters draft by offering space for four vessels at the same time.

Yilport has already started investing to Puerto Quetzal with 4 Liebherr Mobile Harbor Cranes of LHM 600 specially designed to load and unload up to super new-Panamax-sized vessels. The first two cranes were set to arrive at Puerto Quetzal in November, while the other two are expected to be delivered in the first half of 2019.

Liebherr is constructing a 1,600-tonne capacity gantry crane - the TCC 78000 - at its facility in Rostock, Germany.

Featuring a maximum lifting height of 112 m, the rail-mounted heavy lift crane will be able to move over a distance of 420 m between the factory site and the adjacent quayside.

Equipped with a double trolley (two rails per side) and a rail gauge of 30 m, Liebherr says the gantry crane provides optimum flexibility for handling all types of large-sized goods.

The TCC 78000 will be used for handling heavy cargoes from the offshore, shipbuilding, industrial plant construction and logistics sectors, as well as for its in-house logistics processes such as the production, assembly and dispatch of maritime cranes. In the future, the gantry crane will also provide other companies the possibility of handling heavy lift cargoes in the port of Rostock, added Liebherr.

Its first major operation is to install the HLC 295000 heavy lift crane - the largest offshore crane Liebherr has ever built - onto DEME’s wind farm installation and platform decommissioning vessel, Orion.

The HLC 295000 will be able to lift 5,000 tonnes at an outreach of more than 30 m. Liebherr was awarded the contract to supply the heavy lift crane for DEME in March 2018, as HLPFI reported here.

Muscat International Shipping & Logistics LLC has recently handled lifting and installation operations of a glass panel for Aquarium inside the Mall of Muscat in Oman on September 29th, 2018.

Commercial Manager, Mr.Mithun informed us that a single piece glass for aquarium measuring 6.7 Meter X 8.9 Meter with the thickness 0.4 Meter weighing 31 Tones was successfully lifted and installed inside of the mall. This was the biggest glass installation in Oman.

The Georgia Ports Authority has outlined plans for a series of infrastructure projects, designed to boost capacity and provide new opportunities in roll-on, roll-off cargo handling.

Speaking on the port authority’s fiscal year 2018 results, Executive Director Griff Lynch detailed expansion projects that will double the port’s auto rail capacity and allow Georgia to reach markets as far west as California with direct service.

“The Port of Brunswick achieved a solid performance across all cargo categories over the last fiscal year. As GPA adds new terminal space, we will expand our service area in the Southeast and beyond,” Lynch said.

Bulk cargo handling was particularly strong at East River Terminal, operated by terminal operator Logistec, where volumes rose 11 percent to 1 million tons in the fiscal year ended in June.

GPA plans to add 60 dockside acres to ro-ro operations over the next 12 months. By 2019, the GPA will have added 250 acres, for a total of 550 acres of leasable space for auto processing at Colonel’s Island Terminal.
